THE CIRCUIT
EPISODE BREAKDOWN
The Circuit is an Hour-long drama that could best be described as THE FUGITIVE meets KUNG FU. It’s the story of Dirk Longstreet, a full contact fighting champion, who is haunted by his past and on the run from an evil cartel boss, Octavio, who will stop at nothing to find him. Unbeknownst to Dirk, he’s also being tracked by an FBI agent desperate to get him to help bring Octavio down. Driven by his sense of justice and honor to do the right thing, despite his vow to turn his back on violence, he will become a reluctant hero, who constantly finds himself helping those in need. A one-man wrecking crew, with superior intelligence, and a sense of fearlessness that is awe-inspiring, he will travel the country aimlessly, and become nothing short of a legend.
Pilot Episode One: Horror in the Woods-Shot
A young couple heads to the mountains to get away from it all. That night they find themselves face to face with two ax wielding murderers with ill intentions. On the run for their lives, they come across Dirk, who happens to be camping nearby. Quickly Dirk finds himself in a dangerous game of cat and mouse, where it will take everything he has and more to get the couple out alive. Meanwhile, Octavio has promised some new “Partners” that Dirk will return to the Circuit to fight his biggest and toughest opponent yet, and has dispatched a number of men to hunt down and find Dirk wherever he might be. At the same time, Octavio has become the focus of an FBI investigation, headed up by Agent Taylor, a recovering sex addict.
Episode Two: Can You Change a Hundred?-Shot
Dirk heads into a small town bank to change a hundred dollar bill. Unbeknownst to Dirk he chooses the day it is to be robbed. Along with a dozen other hostages, Dirk finds himself in a dicey situation that escalates by the minute. The robbers, four men in ski masks, have planned the robbery meticulously — a full proof plan to make sure they succeed. However, they didn't account for Dirk, who will foil their plans; saving a town from devastation.
Episode Three: Reign of Terror-Shot
Dirk finds work at a retreat run by a woman named Alex, who has recently lost her husband. He learns that she and her daughter have been harassed and bullied as of late to sell their land to a developer, who seems willing to do whatever it takes to get her land. Unfortunately, the local Sheriff is in on it, which makes Alex feel hopeless and helpless. Dirk suspects there must be oil on it, which leads to Alex confronting the developer, who threatens Alex and basically admits that her husband’s death wasn’t an accident. This sets off a course of events with dire consequences. Both Octavio and the FBI agent learn of Dirk’s whereabouts and race to get there before he leaves, setting up a collision course with one another.
Episode Four: To Pawn or Not to Pawn-Shot
Dirk goes to a Pawn Shop to sell his prized Rolex he won during a tournament. He haggles over the price and decides to walk away to think about it. While Dirk ponders the deal at a bar down the street, two men in need of drug money rob the Pawn Shop. Dirk ultimately returns to sell the watch only to find himself smack dab in the middle of a robbery gone wrong. It will be up to Dirk to make sure no one gets hurt, while also ensuring he escapes without any police interaction. In the meantime, Octavio learns he’s being investigated by the FBI, and that one of his own men might have snitched on him.
Episode Five: Trapped on the Wrong Side
Disheartened by losing Dirk, Agent Taylor regroups and begins to lean on his “source”. For the time being, Dirk travels to Nogales, Arizona to visit his friend, Robbie, a Border Patrol guard, who was recently involved in a fatal shooting of a young Mexican boy trying to climb the wall. This has caused tempers to flare and the situation at the border untenable— especially for Border Patrol guards. Disheartened by his mistake, Robbie turns to God to look for answers, while his partner, Thomas, stumbles upon a new drug tunnel filled with cash, which he believes may hold the answer to all their problems. Instead of calling it in, Thomas concocts a plan involving his girlfriend, Sarah, Robbie, and Dirk that goes horribly wrong. The three men soon find themselves on the wrong side of the wall and on the run from one of Mexico’s most ruthless Cartels. Thomas is the only man who escapes, but is then promptly relieved of the stolen money by a Rancher and his son, who refuse to let him cross the wall.
Episode Six: Gluttony Kills More Than the Sword
Dirk and Robbie are captured by the Cartel and tortured mercilessly, while Thomas eventually finds a place to cross the wall. The Rancher and his son debate what to do with the money, ultimately deciding to keep it. All the while, the Cartel soon learns that Sarah and Thomas were both in on it. The two of them are both captured and dragged back to Mexico where things get very dire. Eventually the Cartel Boss presents them with an option: be tortured mercilessly or fight one another to the death — winner goes free. This turns out to be a blessing in disguise, and the three men are able to escape back to the other side of the border. Yet, things only get worse when greed rears its ugly head. News vans end up capturing some dramatic footage for all to see, including Octavio’s new partners, who learn for the first time that Dirk isn’t under Octavio’s control anymore. This worries them quite a bit.
Episode Seven: Root Of All Evil
Robbie invites Dirk to return home with him to his small town in Gatesville, Texas. His father has recently passed away, and he’s hoping to revive his father's church, but soon learns a flamboyant money grabbing Pastor has basically taken over, which has changed the town greatly, and not for the best. Meanwhile, agent Taylor rushes to Nogales to see if he can catch Dirk before he leaves, only to find himself embroiled in a life and death scenario, which will ultimately help him down the line. Back in LA, Octavio has put in place a plan B, just in case Dirk never returns. It has immediate success.
Episode 8: Blinded By Ambition
Robbie begins preaching, and begins to get a following, which doesn’t sit well with the new church in town, which we learn is actually part of a bigger nationwide group run by one of the most corrupt Pastors ever. He begins receiving death threats, which Dirk investigates. Dirk soon discovers that Robbie’s father’s death wasn’t an accident, but actually murder. This sends shockwaves across the town, and unveils some hidden truths that no one wanted to confront.
In the meantime, Octavio’s Plan B is gaining momentum, and it’s up to Agent Taylor to stop it before it’s too late. Luckily for him, his experience in Nogales will help him out.
Episode 9: What Happens in Vegas Doesn’t Stay in Vegas
Dirk hops a train to a small town in Middle America. In need of some money he begrudgingly enters a local Toughman contest; the winner is to receive a brand new Dodge Challenger. Dirk easily wins, but when it’s time to collect the organizer of the contest takes off for Las Vegas in Dirk’s new car. Unhappy with being cheated out of his prize, Dirk travels to Sin City to get what he’s owed. Octavio gets wind of all of this and sends his men to find Dirk before he disappears again. His new partners are getting extremely nervous that Dirk won’t show up for the big fight and they can’t have that, — nor can Octavio. Threats are made, violence fills the air. Things are starting to spiral out of control.
Episode Ten: No Mercy
Taking a job in a general store, Dirk meets the son of the store’s owner. The boy is being picked on badly by a group of local martial art teens. Dirk agrees to teach the boy a few moves, but when the boy turns up dead, Dirk goes on the warpath. This brings a lot of attention to the small town, which is just what Agent Taylor needed to get back on Dirk’s path.
Episode Eleven: Location, location, location…
Dirk arrives in a small town and gets work renovating a home on the outskirts. Unfortunately, Dirk walks into a war between the townspeople and a gang of bikers who want to take it over to start a staging area for drug trafficking. Dirk’s heroics save the town, but it will cost him in the long run.
Episode Twelve: Left for Dead
While walking at night on the highway, Dirk is struck by a driver and hurt badly. Left for dead, Dirk is found by a Native American woman and taken back to the reservation where she lives. Nursing Dirk back to health, the woman realizes Dirk has no memory of who he is, but when her abusive ex-husband returns to cause trouble, Dirk’s fighting ability is still fresh. Octavio is completely beside himself. He doesn’t trust any of his men and he’s running out of time before the big fight. He begins to get desperate — then an idea hits him.
Episode Thirteen: Breaking a Sacred Code
Getting a job running errands for a rich elderly woman, Dirk comes across a plot designed by her younger relatives to make her death look accidental so that they can collect their inheritance. Dirk is able to stave off their diabolical plan, but to keep the elderly woman safe he’ll need some help — Agent Taylor is just the right person at the right time. Turns out to be Christmas come early for Agent Taylor, as he also receives an interesting phone call from Octavio himself.
Episode Fourteen: Clock is Tickin
Dirk takes a job as a ranch hand and witnesses a murder. Refusing to talk to the police, Dirk becomes a suspect, so he must find the real killer before the police capture him. Since he’s on the Police Radar, Octavio is able to track him and sends an army of men to bring Dirk back. After all, Dirk’s biggest fight to date is less than a month away, and Octavio has to deliver Dirk or else.
Episode Fifteen: This Is What It Is To Be Happy
Dirk finds work at an old ski lodge, tucked away deep in the Mountains. The owner is a single woman, trying to raise a teenage boy, who lacks discipline and a strong work ethic, but with a passion for fighting. Dirk makes a deal with the boy to train him in exchange for help around the lodge. Soon the young man finds himself being trained by one of the best, learning things he never thought imaginable, while taking great pride in a hard day's work. However, as his fighting skills increase, so does his ego, which quickly endangers all involved — especially, when he allows some underground fights to happen on the property, which Octavio is quick to learn about. Octavio takes prime advantage of this opportunity and arranges for Dirk’s biggest and toughest opponent to show up to the resort, making good on the promise he made to his new partners, who are in for quite the surprise.
OR WE DO THIS ONE AND END WITH ANOTHER EPIC FIGHT (MAYBE IT’S THE GUY WHO OCTAVIO WAS ARRANGING FOR HIM TO FIGHT?):
Episode Sixteen: Fa la la la la, la la la la.
Dirk gets a job playing a Santa Claus for a local community center. Hearing the center is going to be closed down, Dirk pays a visit to the owner of the building to plead the case. Unfortunately, for Dirk the owner knows Octavio, who wants Dirk back in the ring against the biggest most vicious fighter to date. To lure Dirk in, he bets him if he wins, he gets $25,000 for the community center and Octavio will leave Dirk alone forever. However, if he loses he must come back onto the Circuit full time. Dirk wins, but is double crossed by Octavio.
